1. Introduction

Welcome to KC Blinds. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website, products, and services. By engaging our services or using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

KC Blinds, LLC is a window treatment company serving the Kansas City metropolitan area in both Kansas and Missouri. Our business address is 132 Abbie Ave, Suite 200, Kansas City, KS 66103.

2. Services

KC Blinds provides custom window treatment solutions including:

  • Custom blinds (wood, faux wood, and vertical)
  • Window shades (cellular, roller, roman, and zebra)
  • Plantation shutters
  • Custom drapery and curtains
  • Motorized and smart home solutions
  • Retractable awnings

Our services include free in-home consultations, professional measurement, and expert installation by trained technicians.

3. Consultations & Property Access

By scheduling a consultation or installation appointment, you grant KC Blindsand its representatives permission to:

  • Enter your property at the scheduled time
  • Access windows and surrounding areas for measurement and installation
  • Inspect window frames, walls, and mounting surfaces
  • Use necessary tools and equipment to perform our services

You agree to ensure a safe, accessible work environment and to secure pets during appointments. If access is restricted or unsafe conditions exist, we may reschedule the appointment at our discretion.

4. Quotes & Pricing

  • All quotes are provided during your free in-home consultation
  • Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date provided
  • Prices may change after the 30-day period due to manufacturer price adjustments
  • A deposit is required to begin production of custom products
  • Final payment is due upon completion of installation
  • We accept major credit cards, checks, and financing options

Quoted prices are based on standard installation conditions. Additional charges may apply for specialty installations, difficult access situations, or structural modifications discovered during installation.

5. Measurements

KC Blinds provides professional measurement services as part of our consultation process. While we take great care to ensure accurate measurements:

  • We cannot guarantee measurements for windows with non-standard shapes, concealed obstructions, or structural irregularities not visible during measurement
  • Minor variations in fit may occur due to settling, humidity, or building movement
  • If you provide your own measurements, you accept full responsibility for their accuracy

Customer-provided measurements that result in incorrect product sizing are not covered under our warranty or refund policy.

6. Custom Products

All window treatments from KC Blinds are custom-manufactured to your specific measurements and specifications.

  • Custom products are non-returnable and non-refundable once production begins
  • Production typically takes 2-4 weeks from order confirmation
  • Production timelines may vary based on manufacturer capacity and material availability
  • You will be notified if significant delays occur

Please review all order details carefully before signing your agreement, as changes cannot be made once production has started.

7. Installation

Professional installation is included with your purchase. To ensure a successful installation, you agree to:

  • Clear the work area of furniture and valuables near windows
  • Remove existing window treatments prior to installation (or arrange for removal service)
  • Provide clear access to electrical outlets if motorized products are being installed
  • Ensure someone 18 years or older is present during installation
  • Notify us of any known issues with walls, window frames, or electrical systems

Liability Disclaimer: KC Blinds is not responsible for pre-existing conditions including but not limited to: structural issues, water damage, electrical problems, rotting wood, crumbling drywall, or window frame defects discovered during installation. If such conditions prevent safe installation, work may be paused until repairs are completed by the homeowner.

Installation appointments may be rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice. Missed appointments without notice may be subject to a rescheduling fee.

8. Warranty

All products and installations come with our 5-year parts & labor. This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and care.

The warranty does NOT cover:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Sun exposure, UV damage, and natural color fading over time
  • Damage from improper cleaning or use of harsh chemicals
  • Damage from pets, children, or general misuse
  • Structural or moisture issues in walls or window frames
  • Third-party modifications or repairs
  • Motorization battery life and replacement
  • Smart home integration failures (Alexa, Google Home, etc.)
  • Manufacturer defects (covered separately under manufacturer warranty)
  • Acts of nature, accidents, or events beyond our control

Warranty claims must be submitted in writing with photos of the issue. We will inspect the product and determine coverage at our discretion.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Kansas and Missouri law:

  • KC Blinds, LLC's total liability for any claim arising from our products or services shall not exceed the total amount paid by you for the specific products or services giving rise to the claim
  • In no event shall KC Blinds be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • This includes but is not limited to loss of use, lost profits, business interruption, or damage to other property

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties or exclusion of certain damages. In such cases, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

10. Cancellation & Refunds

Because our products are custom-made to your specifications:

  • Orders may be cancelled within 3 business days of signing, subject to a restocking fee if materials have been ordered
  • Orders cannot be cancelled once production has begun
  • Deposits are non-refundable after the 3-day cancellation period
  • Refunds for defective products will be issued at our discretion after inspection

Consultation and installation appointments may be rescheduled with 24 hours notice at no charge.

11. Photo & Media Consent

With your written permission, KC Blinds may photograph completed installations for use in our portfolio, website, social media, and marketing materials.

  • Photo consent is entirely optional and does not affect your service
  • We will never share your personal information alongside photos
  • Photos may include interior views of rooms where products are installed
  • You may revoke consent at any time by contacting us in writing

If you do not wish to have your installation photographed, simply decline when asked or inform your installer.

12. Dispute Resolution

We are committed to resolving any concerns promptly and fairly. If you have a dispute regarding our products or services:

  • Please contact us first at info@kcblinds.com or (816) 298-5663 to discuss the issue
  • We will work with you in good faith to reach a mutually satisfactory resolution
  • If informal resolution is unsuccessful, either party may pursue remedies available under law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Kansas. Any legal action arising from these Terms shall be brought in the state or federal courts located in Kansas or Missouri, depending on your service location.

KC Blinds serves the greater Kansas City metropolitan area, including communities in both Missouri and Kansas. Service availability may vary by location. Contact us to confirm service in your area.

14. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
